Part Time Birth Assistant Needed - Posted 3/21/13

The Best Start Birth Center Certified Birth Assistant will assist the CNM in the birth center during labor, intrapartum, and post partum. The Birth Assistant will be able to assist in an emergency and facilitate emergent or non-emergent transfer. San Diego birth center looking for new Full Time CNM

Best Start Birth Center, founded by Certified Nurse-Midwife Roberta Frank in 1983, is the longest continually operating free-standing birth center in San Diego. We are state-licensed and CABC-accredited. We are a full-scope midwifery practice operated by nurse-midwives with consulting physicians. We do birth center deliveries only. No hospital or home births. We focus on OB care with very minimal GYN care, (less then 10%). Many insurance plans are accepted, and 45% of the clientele is insured by MediCal. Best Start does approximately 195 births a year. Family-centered care is the guiding model of Best Start Birth Center and the right candidate for this position understands and values this system of care and will be dedicated to mothers and babies. We are seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife with strong clinical skills and three years experience in practice including out-of-hospital births, (birth center experience preferred). We are looking for a CNM committed to preserving midwifery clinical skills, while practicing the art of midwifery. A masters degree or higher is required. Benefits include health/dental insurance, 2 weeks paid vacation, 1 weekend off per month, (when per diem coverage is available), and competitive salary. Spanish proficiency a plus!
